Eczema treatments?

Anyone know any decent treatment that actually works rather than just soothing it for a while then it comes back?

My kids doc prescribed acid mantle cream mixed with 2% hydrocortisone – worked like a charm.

This can be a real pain. I suffer as well.

Before bed put on vaseline petroleum jelly to the area, cover, and go to sleep.

When you get up shower and then use a GOOD skin lotion that will dry somewhat under your clothes. Make it a regimen.

Only thing I have found that consistently works.

Hi, I know how you feel. I’ve had eczema for almost 3 years. I go to the doctor and all they prescribe is topical cream. it seems like when one spot goes away, another takes its place. what I’ve been doing recently that is working for me, is exfoliating with a gentle body scrub. then moisturizing with a body lotion. it has been maybe 2 months and everything is smoothening out and I think i’m on the right track.

I’m not sure if it’s the products I’m using or I’m just getting over it. Hope it helps. the product i use is the AXE Smoothing shower gel, the beads that they use are really fine. I apply it with my hands instead of a sponge. then i moisturize right after with Origins "a Perfect World" highly hydrating body lotion with white tea.

good luck. :) if you dont mind, let me know in 2 months if it’s working for you .

careful with the champori cream. I’m not saying it’s bad or good, but be suspicious with miracle creams. also the people who endorses the products on yahoo answer are usually top contributors and have their answer hidden.

I would like to know if there is something to make it go away and not come back too. I’ve had it pretty much my whole life although it’s better now than it has ever been.

I’ve tried lots of things. The first time I went to a doctor about it, he said to put Crisco or Vaseline on it. I tried that a lot and it didn’t seem to do anything except leave grease marks everywhere.

Next I tried Hydrocortisone cream. That worked if I put it on everyday. It went from my arms being bright red to almost going away relatively quickly. I then moved to Brazil for a while and I didn’t have any problems there. I thought it was because it was humid but my wife (a medical student) thinks it also may be due to the sun and how much vitamin D I was absorbing. That could be a factor because it always gets worse in the winter.

Now I use cedafil. It’s just some fragrance free lotion that my coworker told me about. I stopped using Hydrocortisone because I heard that prolonged use could "thin your skin" whatever that means. Ever since Brazil it hasn’t been too bad so that keeps it in check when it starts coming back.

I also have a friend that stopped drinking milk because her doctor suspected it may be due to a food allergy and it worked for her. Not so much for me.

Things that seem to help me:
Getting lots of sun or going tanning
Hydrocortisone or a good fragrance free lotion

Carly, hello: I can’t recommend the herbal anti-eczema remedy by Champori enough: it works for my eczema better and faster than anything else: my leisons disappeared in just few weeks and I haven’t had a flare up in more than a year now. Try it: it comes with money back guarantee so there is nothing to lose.
    Best,
    Bernadette

Do not use any soaps like Dove or Dial on your skin. Use natural soaps such as Black Soap or Sunny Sunnah’s Eczema soap. These soaps have natural herbs and ingredients that nourish the skin and treat the eczema. You can feel it as you wash. Next, try using pure Shea Butter as a moisturizer. Shea Butter is a type of butter like cocoa butter and comes from Africa. It will heal the patches of dry skin and eczema patches and scars. Use it as much as needed. Also, diet is a factor of eczema as well. Fried foods, greasy foods, dairy products are bad and can cause eczema to get worse. Eat more fish like salmon and tuna, more soy, more nuts and grains, green leafy vegetables and non-acidic fruits like apples and grapes. Milk, ice cream, cheese, strawberries and processed sugars contribute to problems with eczema as well. Talk with your doctor about a diet plan and how to treat the disease internally.
